School Districts
TWU will strive to grant a candidate's request concerning a preferred location for their field experience/observation; however, the school districts may have other obligations, or other factors may determine your placement. Candidates are to complete the background requirements for the first choice district only. Each district is unique in what is required to obtain approval for placement.

A direct link to the district’s background requirements is provided during the online application process. Each semester new criminal background requirements must be completed for your first choice school district. Your signed application along with the criminal background requirements (including printouts, copy of driver’s license or TB clearances, if applicable) must be turned in together by the posted deadline.
Out-of-area students, students requesting other districts, or candidates with a contract-position within a public school district (teacher or paraprofessional but not a substitute*) should email OCP Director Sarah McMahan at smcmahan@twu.edu for an appeal. In the email, include your course number, professor's name, and reason for appeal.
*A substitute position is not considered a contract position by the district; therefore, you must follow the general process to obtain placement approval.
