Two nursing faculty recognized by D Magazine

Feb. 27, 2023 — DALLAS — Two TWU College of Nursing faculty — Laura Kubin, PhD, and Rachelle Campbell — will be recognized for nursing excellence in the March issue of D Magazine.

The Excellence in Nursing Awards issue recognizes the work of nurses who heal North Texans with skill and spirit. Kubin was named to the DFW Great 100 Nurses list in 1998, like Jeffrey Williams, DNP, this year, so this makes the second honor like this in her career. 

“I teach because I care so much about helping students learn so they can become amazing nurses,” Kubin said. “To know that I’ve been able to impact students in this way just really reminds me why I do this.”

“The DFW Great 100 Nurses list was the greatest honor of my professional life. Now there’s this,” Kubin said. “I’m very blessed to be honored twice in my career.”

This is the first such honor for Campbell.

“The care I deliver in the classroom and clinic is with passion, and I always want to help and never hinder a student or patient,” Campbell said. “Leading a life where you are consistently giving of yourself to help others daily is what I believe D Magazine understands.”

D Magazine celebrated Kubin, Campbell and other award recipients at a Feb. 23 event. 

“A magazine issue dedicated to nurses serving in the community is an amazing opportunity to recognize the hard work and commitment of us all,” Campbell said. “D Magazine could have just mailed us a certificate, but had an outstanding reception where we could meet and feel appreciated and see the work they put into recognizing us.”
