Opening keynote speaker of the Doswell Health Informatics Conference

May 5, 2023 — DALLAS — Roughly 160 attendees took part in this year’s 2023 Doswell Health Informatics Conference, which covered topics such as clinical informatics, patient and workplace safety and artificial intelligence, among other subjects.

The conference was held at the TWU Dallas Center on April 28, hosted by the College of Nursing, which offers a graduate certificate in health informatics

“The conference was a huge success. The keynote speakers were truly inspiring and provided valuable insights that resonated with attendees,” said Mikyoung Lee, PhD, the Doswell Endowed Chair for Informatics and Healthcare Transformation. “I’m heartened to receive so many positive messages from attendees.”

This year’s theme was “Enhancing Clinician and Patient Well-Being Through Health Informatics.”

In addition to two keynote speakers, there were 13 other speakers throughout the day. Other topics covered public health and community informatics, nursing informatics workforce development and data science, to name a few. There were also poster presenters and abstracts for attendees to consider.

“They were packed with actionable ideas and strategies that attendees could apply to their work,” Lee said. “All of them were top notch and really brought their expertise to bear on the most relevant and timely issues in the health informatics field.”

The Doswell Health Informatics Conference is made possible by the Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell Foundation.

“I’m proud of our team’s efforts to make this event a success. Our team, including the planning committee and the volunteers, worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the conference was carefully curated and designed to provide maximum value to the attendees,” Lee said. “I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who played a role in making this conference a success.”

Lee was also thankful for conference attendee donations to the Health Informatics Scholarship Fund to support students in health informatics at Texas Woman’s University.
