Student Employment
TWU Libraries is more than a place to check out books, it is a multifaceted network of researchers, digital specialists and administrative professionals that are committed to making our libraries the heart of our campuses. Part of this commitment to our community is offering students real world employment opportunities within our libraries. Each semester student assistant positions may become available in our Access Services, Special Collections, Collection Management and Resource Services (CMRS), Digital Services, and Marketing departments across the libraries on all TWU campuses.
Because every library department is unique, duties will vary between each position. Some of the projects and tasks TWU library student assistants are more generally involved with while assisting our staff with daily, routine library operations include:
- Greeting and assisting library patrons at our information desks
- Processing and digitizing Special Collections materials
- Setting up chairs and tables for special events in our libraries
- Ensuring that public computers and printers are clean and fully operational
- Assisting students with basic computer operations
- Exploring our database catalog to verify that electronic access is available to students
- Shelving, shifting, and working to inventory our large, unique collections
- Receiving, cataloging, and processing new library materials
- Retrieving and preparing interlibrary loan materials for patrons
- Digitizing specialized print collections
If you are interested in becoming part of the TWU library team, any departmental student positions that are currently available in our organization will be listed in the TWU Handshake system.
