Tk20 to SL&L Transition Information
Tk20 Transition Information for Students Seeking Certification
Tk20 by Watermark — the main data management platform for both initial teaching and non-teaching/professional certification programs in TWU’s Educator Preparation Program (EPP) — will no longer be supported by the end of this year (2025).
As a result, TWU will adopt Watermark’s newer platform — Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L) — which will launch in Fall 2025.
SL&L provides advantages to the EPP as a platform used for program admission applications, early field experience and practicum time logs, and Clinical Teaching and Practicum course binders for documentation and observations. As Tk20 was, SL&L will also be essential in reporting candidates’ performance for state certification to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as well as maintaining TWU EPP’s accreditation and compliance with TEA.
Advantages include:
- Updated experience for faculty and students
- More accessible interface
- More user friendly overall
Summer 2025
The TWU EPP will continue use of Tk20 throughout Summer 2025 until Fall 2025 for the following:
- Program certification applications
- Time logs
- Graduate practicum/internship courses
If you are a current candidate that started a course in Clinical Teaching (for initial teacher certification) or Practicum/Internship (non-teaching/professional certification) in Spring 2025 and set to complete in Fall 2025 (or summer in some cases) you will continue to use Tk20 through your paid Student Account to complete requirements ro certification.
Fall 2025
Current Tk20 Student accounts holders regarding transition to SL&L:
- Paid Tk20 Student Accounts are valid for 7 years from the date of purchase. If you have paid TK20 Student Account that is not expiring within the next 6 months, your account will transfer over to the SL&L and no action will be required. Candidates holding a Tk20 Student Account expiring in 6 months will need to purchase an SL&L account. The purchase link will be available at launch.
- If you are in a non-teaching/professional certification program (i.e. School Librarian, School Counselor, Educational Diagnostician, Principal, Superintendent, Reading Specialist) and currently do not have a paid Tk20 student account, you will need to purchase an SL&L account when the link becomes available at launch. However, if you purchase a Tk20 Student account before launch, the account will transfer over to SL&L.
IMPORTANT: The SL&L account is required course material for both Initial Teacher and Non-Teacher/Professional certification programs in TWU’s EPP. Candidate observations and required documentation collected on the platform are reported to TEA. Failure to have an active account for Fall 2025, from either payment, or transfer may affect recommendation for certification.
More information will be provided in the next few months regarding the transition to the new platform.
