Bachelor of Science in Education

The Teacher Education Program at Texas Woman’s University graduates profession-ready teachers. This means our students can be fully certified at graduation. They demonstrate content knowledge in the area where they will teach, have demonstrated ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse students, and demonstrated teaching skills before entering the classroom.

TWU students will be teachers prepared to work with diverse populations, including students with exceptional needs, English Language Learners and more. Texas Woman’s University is designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and was one of the earliest higher education institutions in the region to train bilingual teachers.

Supportive faculty

At TWU, I've had amazing professors show me the type of teacher I want to be. They taught me content I need to teach my future students, and showed me compassion and understanding. They went out of their way to help me. I will make sure that my students know I will always be rooting for them - the same way I know my professors are rooting for me. Elizabeth Araiza, EC-6, Bilingual Education, Class of 2021

Great option for transfers

From the very beginning TWU made it so easy for me to transfer. My advisor sat down with me and talked about what credits I could transfer and what I still needed. TWU really takes the time to know you. I'm so glad I transferred there. Allie Worthington, 2019

Creating community to teach the community

TWU gave me a sense of community and direction. I went beyond what I thought I was capable of accomplishing thanks to TWU. It shaped me into an educator who understands how important culture and differentiation is to student success and the importance of diversity and inclusion of culture and languages in the classroom.
