Applying for a Dance Division Graduate Assistant position
As noted, graduate assistantships in the TWU Division of Dance are competitive, with more qualified and deserving students than positions. Prospective MFA graduate students who are seeking graduate assistantships should apply early and plan to attend the January MFA audition.
If you would like to be considered for a graduate assistantship in the Dance Division, please provide the following information to the Head of the Dance Division, Professor Jordan Fuchs, by email at jfuchs@twu.edu.
- Your name and email address
- The subject areas or positions, in which you feel qualified to teach or serve as a coordinator
- A brief statement of your qualifications and experience in these subject areas or roles
The following list of classes is typical of graduate assistantship opportunities:
- Contemporary dance
- Hip Hop
- Jazz
- Tap
- Ballet
- Pilates
- Bartenieff Fundamentals
- Dance Conditioning
- International Dance Forms (such as West African, Capoeira, Ballet Folklorico etc.) please specify which international dance form
- Improvisation
- Composition
- Understanding Arts: Dance (online)
- Wellness through Movement
- Gendered Images in Dance Performance (online)
- Dance History
In addition, there are also several graduate assistant positions that focus on areas outside the classroom:
- Digital media coordination, including concert video documentation
- Publicity coordinator, focusing on the Division’s social media presence
- Recruitment coordinator
- Costume coordinator
