Tyreana Handley
Tyreana "Ty" Handley is a dancer, choreographer and dance educator whose artistry blends innovation, discipline, and storytelling. Born and raised in Dallas, she discovered her passion for dance at an early age, captivated by its ability to communicate emotion, express vulnerability and create community.
Handley began her dance journey as a self-taught mover at 11 years old, mimicking choreography she saw on social media and further developing her skills in classes at Lancaster Middle School. In high school, her passion flourished as she earned a place in the advanced dance ensemble and served as lieutenant of the Lancaster High School Tigerette Drill Team.
After graduation, she continued her education at Prairie View A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management. During her time at PVAMU, Handley danced with the celebrated Black Foxes collegiate dance team, eventually serving as a captain during her final year. With the Black Foxes, she performed on major stages including the Houston Rockets halftime show and as a backup dancer for Paul Wall during the Houston Texans halftime performance.
Motivated by her dream of opening a dance academy, Handley chose to expand her training and artistic voice through graduate study. In Fall 2024, she began her Master of Fine Arts in Dance at TWU, where she continues to refine her craft as a performer, choreographer and teacher.
Handley actively contributes to the dance field through workshops, guest teaching and advocacy for the majorette dance tradition. She is committed to showcasing the richness of this genre to diverse audiences while fostering creativity, confidence and self-expression in her students.
