Makayla Rosenberger

Makayla Rosenberger

Makayla Rosenberger is a movement artist whose work spans across disciplines into visual arts. She is a MFA in dance candidate at Texas Woman’s University where she also works as the recruitment coordinator and a graduate teaching assistant. Rosenberger holds a BA in dance and concentration in education from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has taught middle and high school dance for Henderson County and Charlotte Mecklenburg public school districts in North Carolina. She is trained in ballet, modern, jazz and contemporary dance and has experience teaching students of various ages in public school, private studio, and community center settings. As an artist, Rosenberger is interested in interdisciplinary and collaborative work that emphasizes process over product, while decentering herself in the role of choreographer. Currently she is curious about the intersections between visual art and dance as they relate to embodiment and movement generation, as well as the potential for these concepts to impact cross-curricular design in the K-12 setting. She has presented research at TWU Creative Art and Research Symposium, Charlotte Research Scholars and The National Dance Education Organization Conference. Some of her recent awards include the Jane Lonon Legacy Artist Grant, TWU College of Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Scholarship, and Greater Denton Arts Council Artist Grant.
