Lily Sloan

A Michigan native, Lily Sloan received her MFA in dance at Texas Woman’s University with the Outstanding Graduate Student award, and her BA in Dance from Oakland University Honors College with the Undergraduate Distinguished Scholar award.

She is an administrative coordinator in the Department of Learning Technologies at University of North Texas and a co-director of Big Rig Dance Collective. She taught for 12years as an adjunct professor at Texas Christian University, integrating her knowledge as a certified movement fundamentals artist throughout her pedagogy.

As a dance artist, Lily sees dance making and performing as unique opportunities to create and problem solve in a physically complex and spontaneous way. An artist and teacher of dance improvisation, Lily is on the Coordinating Committee for the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival, where her writing on the festival was featured in Contact Quarterly’s newsletter. Lily continues to fuse her interests in improvisational dance forms and movement fundamentals through a dynamic range of educational, creative and performance contexts.
