Edward Dogbe
Born into a musician’s family, in Accra, Ghana, Dogbe became involved in music and dance at early age. As a dancer and drummer, Dogbe has been performing with groups within Greater Accra Region.
The influence of his grandfather, a master drummer, was always present and the opportunity to follow in his footsteps came up with “Dza Nyonmo Dance Ensemble.” Dogbe’s dedication to dancing and drumming led him to becoming the artistic director and the leader of the ensemble.
Besides performing at various occasions, including the visits of foreign dignitaries, Dogbe kept working with visiting musicians and ensembles, and held dance and drumming workshops and classes. In 2011 Dogbe provided lead vocals on Dza Nyonmo’s album Binnyo.
In 2010, Dogbe moved to Dubai, U.A.E., where he continued his passion for dance and drumming. Dogbe is a certified community drum circle facilitator. He has traveled throughout the Gulf countries to facilitate and perform African music.
Dogbe moved to Texas in 2018 and continued his passion for drumming and dancing with Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble in 2019 and is still performing with them.
