Strategic Plan for Academic Years 2019-2020 through 2023-2024

Mission:

The graduate program in speech-language pathology empowers students to become professional leaders with the knowledge and skills to provide clinical services with competence and integrity.

Strategic Goals:

By the end of the 2023-2024 academic year:

  • 75% of the students will pass the written comprehensive exam on the first attempt when averaged across a three-year period.
    • AY21-22: Second year of data collection for three-year average.  The comprehensive exam was redesigned to a case-study based exam.  The new format was administered starting Spring 2022.
  • 90% of the students will pass the Praxis exam within the 12-month reporting period when averaged across a three-year period.
    • AY21-22 (on-campus cohort) - 85%
      • 3-year average (on-campus cohort) - 93%
    • AY21-22 (distance cohort) - 91%
      • 3-year average (distance cohort) - 93%
  • 70% of the students will earn a cumulative average score of at least 4.25 on their evaluation of diagnostic skills at the end of their program when averaged across a three-year period.
    • AY21-22 (on-campus cohort) - 39.39%
      • 3-year average (on-campus cohort) - 20% *COVID-19 pandemic impacted overall average due to a lack of clinical externships available.*
  • AY21-22 (distance cohort) - 39.18%

  • 80% of the students will earn a cumulative average score of at least 4.25 on their evaluation of treatment skills at the end of their program when averaged across a three-year period.
    • AY21-22 (on-campus cohort) - 36.36%
      • 3-year average (on-campus cohort) - 29% *COVID-19 pandemic impacted overall average due to a lack of clinical externships available.*
    • AY21-22 (distance cohort) - 73.2%
      • 3-year average (distance cohort) - 79% *COVID-19 pandemic impacted overall average due to a lack of clinical externships available.*
  • 25 students will be enrolled in the certificate programs each year when averaged across a three-year period.
    • AY21-22 - 37 certificate participants
      • 3-year average - 40 certificate participants
  • Program faculty will have developed two new interprofessional experiences for students.
    • AY21-22: five new interprofessional experience developed for students
  • Program faculty will have developed one new faculty practice experience that includes student participation.
    • AY21-22: no new faculty practice experience developed
