Strategic Plan for Academic Years 2025-2026 through 2029-2030

Mission:

The graduate program in speech-language pathology empowers students to become professional leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver clinical services with competence and integrity.

Strategic Initiatives:

In support of Learning:
  • Increase the percentage of students who pass comps on the first attempt
    • Increase the 3-year average of students who pass all sections of the comps on the first try to 75%. 
  • Increase the percentage of students who pass the Praxis on the first attempt
    • Increase the 3-year average of students who pass the Praxis on the first attempt to 90%.
  • Increase the Calipso ratings for assessment and treatment
    • Increase the percentage of students who obtain a diagnostic cumulative score of 4.25 or above to 75% as shown over a three-year average. 
    • Increase the percentage of students who obtain a treatment cumulative score of 4.25 or above to 80% shown over a three-year average.
  • Increase student participation in certificate programs
    • At least 30 students will be enrolled in the certificate programs each year, when averaged across a three-year period
  • Program faculty will develop more interprofessional experiences for students.
    • The program faculty will develop 5 new inter-professional experiences for students.  (Stroke Boot Camp, ALS Clinic, OT/Speech Camps Collaboration, Speech/Dental Hygiene, Study Abroad/Speech/OT/PT, Counseling/Dieticians-Stroke, Regional Day School/DHH, Region 11 Sensory Network 0-3/Speech/OT/DHH, Convergence with UTSW
  • Increase student publications and presentations
    • Increase student publications and presentations to 10 per year with a 10% increase each year.
