Sept. 14, 2026  – DENTON – Texas Woman’s Speech-Language Pathology Distance Education graduate program has been recognized as the nation’s sixth best for 2026, according to Forbes Advisor.

The digital news platform, which released rankings for its Best Online Master’s in Speech Pathology Programs, reviewed 34 schools and considered affordability and student outcomes among other factors to determine top programs.

Besides the top-ten ranking, TWU’s Distance Education SLP program was named the Most Accessible School. Forbes Advisor also ranked TWU high in acceptance rate, Pell Grant recipients and socioeconomic mobility score.

Evaluators used data from the National Center for Education Statistics, education providers and reputable educational and professional organizations.

TWU’s distance education programs allow students to work as licensed speech-language pathology assistants, combining in-person clinical experiences with live interactive webinars.

The SLP distance education program features two tracks: a healthcare focus and a school focus.

The schools-focused track is designed for students who commit to working in Texas public schools following graduation. This program is partially funded by the Texas Education Agency to address the shortage of speech-language pathologists in Texas public schools.

Students must take in-person courses one night per week at their local education service center. Other classes are held via Zoom. TWU has produced about 1,200 speech-language pathologists in the 26-year history of the program.

In the healthcare-focused track, students complete clinical experiences with a sponsored healthcare entity. Classes are held through interactive webinars and students must attend classes on the Denton campus three days each summer semester.

The healthcare track started in 2022 and currently has 64 students enrolled in its third cohort.
