Recent grad earns NSF research fellowship
Simone Lang, a TWU graduate and student researcher in the Division of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been awarded a 2026 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship.
The fellowship will support Lang’s doctoral studies and research training. She currently is conducting materials research as a participant in the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship program at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois.
Lang, part of the research group headed by Dr. Shiru Lin, graduated from Texas Woman’s in December 2025. Her fellowship application was supported by Dr. Nasrin Kohan and Dr. Diana Elrod.
NSF graduate research fellowships are highly competitive and support outstanding graduate students pursuing research-based doctoral degrees in NSF-supported fields, including chemistry and biochemistry.
The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program is widely recognized for identifying and supporting early-career scientists who demonstrate strong potential for impactful research and academic excellence.
