Breaking Bad advisor to speak at TWU
Feb. 7, 2024 – DENTON – The science advisor for Breaking Bad will speak on the TWU campus Thursday, Feb. 8, at 4 p.m.
Donna J. Nelson, PhD, a chemistry professor at the University of Oklahoma, will talk about her experiences working on the award-winning AMC TV show. The hour-long event will take place in the Ann Stuart Science Complex, room 259, and is being hosted by the TWU Chemistry Department.
Breaking Bad, starring Bryan Cranston, was about a struggling high school science teacher diagnosed with cancer who turns to producing and distributing methamphetamine to provide for his family, only to endanger his family as he rises in the drug world. The show earned critical acclaim and numerous awards in its five-year run.
Nelson is a proponent of scientific accuracy in television and film, and worked with The Big Bang Theory and a Hollywood Chemistry Symposia.
Thursday's event is open to the public.
