Student Advisory Council
The College of Arts & Sciences Dean's Student Advisory Council was formed to ensure that student voices are heard and included in decision making at the college level. The student representatives serve as a vital bridge between the student body and the administration, keeping the Dean informed of student concerns, perspectives and ideas. They offer valuable insight on what’s working well, where there are challenges, and how we can continue to improve the student experience both inside and outside the classroom.

Emma Camp

Major: Master of Fine Art in Studio Art
Goals: to be a scientific artist and educator. I see myself teaching at the collegiate/university level while pursuing grants/fellowships/commissions as a scientific artist. By bridging the gap between science and art, scientific artists are able to take complex scientific concepts, enhance them through art, to help promote learning and understanding. Interdisciplinary collaborations can be critical to connect viewers to ideas. At Lehigh, I created an interdisciplinary undergraduate art experience. At Texas Woman’s, I have had the opportunity to continue this work and have also had the opportunity to interact with students in teaching and coaching/mentoring environments. It is my goal, through my graduate experience, to expand my work into additional multimedia inquiries and learn new techniques to communicate and refine science-based ideas, as well as share my passion/knowledge with students and peers.
Interests: I love being outdoors/hiking, going to museums, and anything art related, especially art show opening and closing receptions in which I have the opportunity to meet other artists. Being in the art world makes me so incredibly happy. My interests include collaboration with other artists and scientists, and expanding my portfolio into a diverse multimedia collection. I also have an interest in traveling, especially to the U.S. national parks, but also outside the United States.
I find inspiration in beauty, especially the natural beauty all around us. You can find me taking pictures of shadows, textures and other interesting objects and arrangements I stumble upon throughout my day. I pride myself on having an eye for small details and moments that often go unrecognized.
