Pioneer Prep recognized as best program of year
Sept. 10, 2024 – DENTON – Texas Woman's University's Pioneer Prep program has received the 2024 CASP Program of the Year award from the College Academic Support Programs.
Pioneer Prep will be recognized at the CASP annual conference in October.
Directed by Jackie Hoermann-Elliott of the English, Rhetoric & Spanish division and Shawnda Smith of the Mathematics division, Pioneer Prep presents alternative pathways to college placement for prospective students who did not meet college-readiness benchmarks and did not pass placement tests for students enrolling in Texas public colleges and universities.
CASP is the combined efforts of the National Organization for Student Success-Texas Chapter and the Texas Chapter of the College Reading and Learning Association. Its objective is to advance the knowledge and interest of post-secondary educators working in learning assistance, developmental education, tutorial services and other programs of academic support and assistance.
