Health & Wellness Coaching
The Six Dimensions of Wellbeing
- Emotional
- Intellectual
- Occupational
- Physical
- Social
- Spiritual
As an institutional member of the National Wellness Institute, TWU encourages students to address the interdependent dimensions of wellness to build a complete sense of wellness and life satisfaction.
1-on-1 Health & Wellness Coaching
Health & Wellness Coaching is available and complimentary for current TWU students through A Nourishing Space. Coaching sessions are intended to be motivational and supportive. Example topics include sleep, stress management, or weight management. The coaches are TWU Health Studies students who have received training and are being supervised by a Certified Health & Wellness Coach. However, the student coaches themselves are not licensed or certified
How can I schedule a Health & Wellness Coaching session?
To schedule a Health & Wellness Coaching session, complete the Nutrition/Wellness Coaching Intake Form. Forms are also available at the front desk of the Fitness and Recreation Center at the Denton campus.
What is Health & Wellness Coaching?
Health and wellness coaching is client-driven; and as such, the student client determines their health & wellness goals and desired outcomes. The health & wellness coach facilitates the client’s own self-discovery rather than providing all the answers.
What CAN you expect from Health & Wellness Coaching?

- Learn more about visioning, goal setting, and accountability to promote sustainable behavior change
- Partner with the coach to identify and prioritize health and wellness goals

- Acquire new knowledge and skills

- Receive one-on-one coaching to help you discover next steps toward achieving your goals
What should you NOT expect?

- Health and medical advice
How long does it take to schedule an appointment?
Once the Nutrition/Wellness Coaching Intake Form is reviewed, you’ll receive an email in 5 business days to schedule an appointment and complete a Wellness Assessment to be completed prior to your first appointment.
What is a Wellness Wheel?
The Six Dimensions of Wellness include emotional, occupational, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual. These six areas interact and provide a holistic approach to wellness. Developed by Dr. Bill Hettler, co-founder of the National Wellness Institute (NWI), these interdependent dimensions of wellness reflect a model sense for personal wellness and life satisfaction.
Is a follow-up necessary?
No. Follow-ups will be scheduled as needed. If you would like frequent follow-ups for accountability purposes, you can mention that to the nutrition consultant during your first meeting.
This program is made possible through support and collaboration with TWU Health Studies, Nutrition & Food Services, and the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership as a means of providing experiential learning that empowers student health and wellness.
