Education
Dr. Donnya Stephens, of Nacogdoches, is assistant professor (tenured) in the Secondary Education Department of Stephen F. Austin State University. As a professor responsible for recruitment, instruction, and placement of gifted and talented students into the teaching profession, Dr. Stephens has had a tremendous impact on the quality of education.
In addition to her varied responsibilities and teaching at Stephen F. Austin State University, Dr. Stephens is the former president of the Nacogdoches chapter of the American Association for University Women and is currently a member of the Associations Board for College and University Relations, Texas Division.
Dr. Stephens serves the community as a member of the United Way Board of Directors, Community Action of Nacogdoches, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Top Ladies of Distinction, University Women's Club, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Department, and other local, state, and national professional educational organizations.
She is the co-author of a number of significant papers including "The Texas and Missouri Mandates as Models for Comprehensive Teacher Performance" and "Meeting the Challenge of Restructuring a Teacher Certification Program."
