Housing Move-In and Street Closures

Aug. 17, 2023 — DENTON — Residential students will be moving to campus beginning Tuesday, Aug. 22, and their arrival will cause some street closures, congestion and rerouting. 

Volunteers will be assisting residents with move-in and pedestrian traffic is expected to be high. Drivers should expect traffic delays along Bell Avenue and University Drive near campus Aug. 22-23.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 21 parking along Chapel Drive will be unavailable for the entire week. Additionally, the University entrance to Stark Hall, the west side of the Lowry lot and the Dining Hall lot will all be blocked for move-in.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, USS Movers will arrive to assist with move-in for Guinn and Parliament Village. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 23, USS Movers will assist with move-in to Stark Hall with check-in starting at 8 a.m. and Chapel Drive will be closed to traffic. Additionally, Lowry Woods residents will move in beginning at 9 a.m. Barricades will be removed as move-in concludes.

Additionally, on Friday, Aug. 25, Chapel Drive will be closed to traffic beginning at 8 a.m. in preparation for Block Party which will begin at 5 p.m. 

Faculty and staff are encouraged to avoid areas around the residence halls. Barricades should not be moved and vehicles must not be parked in closed roadways to ensure traffic flow.
