Catch the Halloween Spirit at TWU’s Boo at the U

Sept. 27, 2022 — DENTON — Catch the Halloween spirit as “Boo at the U,” the popular, annual fall festival, returns to the TWU Denton campus, located on the southwest corner of Bell Avenue and Administration Drive, on Oct. 20 from 6-8 p.m. Boo at the U 2022

Admission is free and open to the public, but attendees are encouraged to donate items to support the TWU Food Pantry.

According to Mara Jackson, associate director of student union programming, Boo at the U will be bigger and better than ever. “It’s one of the great traditions here at TWU, and it always draws a large crowd. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has a spook-takular experience.”

Event organizers expect approximately 3,000 children and community members to attend.

In addition to treats and eats, inflatables, music and candy, candy, candy, this year’s event will feature a zombie maze, obstacle course, spooky stories for the younger children and a TWU ghost story tour. There will also be plenty of opportunities for photo opps—like a scarecrow stilt walker and juggler—as well as free activities, including balloon artists and a costume contest for little trick-or-treaters, sponsored by the TWU Campus Store.

Items will also be available for purchase, including a Build-A-Buddy for $10 (credit card only) while supplies last, and food from Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and a local food truck.

Parking is available from 4-8:30 p.m. Guests may park in maroon, silver, purple and visitor lots. However, everyone should avoid parking in reserved spots, which are subject to tickets and/or towing.

Boo at the U will be held completely outdoors at the Hubbard Hall Lawn and TWU Gardens. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for the same time on Thursday, Oct. 27.
