4th Annual Drag Show Promises to be Fun

Apr. 6, 2022 — DENTON — Texas Woman’s University’s Student Union, Residence Hall Association, Diversity, Inclusion & Outreach, will host “Kings, Queens & Non-Binary Beings” drag show at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 in the Southwest Ballroom at the Student Union at Hubbard Hal with overflow seating in the auditorium. The show will also be available via livestream.

This year’s show will feature national, local and student performances, including headliner Mo B. Dick, who is cited as one of the founding fathers of the modern-day Drag King movement.

Admission is free for TWU students with a valid TWU ID and $5 for everyone else, including the general public, TWU faculty, staff and alumni.

“We have a very diverse array of performers,” said Mara Jackson, associate director of Student Union Programming.

A unique feature of this drag show is that tips are encouraged. All proceeds will benefit OUTreach Denton, an LGBTQA alliance that provides support, advocacy and resources.

Rainbow cupcakes and fruit kebabs will be available during the vendor mixer, which will begin at 6 p.m. The mixer will feature local organizations that support the LGBTQIA community and will educate guests on drag show culture. Food may be purchased at the retail dining options located inside the Student Union at Hubbard Hall.

Tickets are available at the Student Union Information Desk on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. Only one ticket will be distributed per TWU ID. For guests who want to sit together, tickets should be picked up at the same time. Cash and credit are accepted. Doors to the ballroom will open at 6 p.m.

Students served on the event planning committee and believe it is an opportunity to bring diversity and awareness to TWU and the Denton community.

For more information please email the Student Union or call 940-898-3641. To request an accommodation, contact the Student Union at least two weeks prior to the event.
