2025 Redbud Nominations Open

Jan. 13, 2025 — DENTON — TWU’s Center for Student Involvement is currently accepting nominations for this year’s Redbud Awards as well as seeking faculty and staff volunteers to serve as reviewers.

Redbud Awards acknowledge TWU student leaders, organizations, and advisors for exemplary performance and dedication to serving others.

The awards program traces its history to the 1930s when the first redbud trees were planted throughout the campus. Over the years, the event evolved from a festival and pageant with a “redbud queen” to one that recognizes students for their qualities of leadership, character and how they make a difference.

Today, Redbud Award recipients excel in academic and community pursuits, embody what it means to be a global citizen, and are known by their actions. The criteria have changed over the years to make the awards more inclusive and representative of the student population, but the premise to recognize student excellence remains the same.

See the Redbud Awards page for criteria for faculty and staff awards, individual student leader awards, student organization awards, and volunteer details.

Award nominations are due by Friday, Feb. 14, and the Denton award ceremony will be held Thursday, April 10.
