Pioneers Remembered - 2024 Memorials
Our Pioneers Remembered memorial page acknowledges our TWU students, faculty and staff who have passed away. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our TWU community members (listed below).
This listing is a collaboration between the Office of Student Life and Human Resources. While we try to be thorough, we realize that we do make the occasional, inadvertent omission. If you know of a student, faculty, staff or retired faculty/staff that passed away between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024, please email Amy Evans.

Memories
Paul Bowden
My dad worked in the TWU Facilities Management & Construction department at the same time that I did, which will always bring lovely memories for me. He enjoyed working with the staff and always enjoyed the students' energy and enthusiasm. He was a special person who loved to laugh and left a lasting, positive impression wherever he went. He retired from TWU in 2006 and departed this earth on February 9, 2024. - Christina Williams
Lois Garcia
Lois was a very happy person, always in a good mood, friendly, and social. She liked to be involved with everyone and tried to help in any way she could. She is missed a lot. - Mariella Villela
Jessica Charlene O’Connor
Jessica was our firefly. She was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a friend. She advocated for the marginalized in her community. She was affectionally known as a Doozer. We honor the light and love she left behind. - Pat & Patricia O'Connor
Leslie Thompson
Dr. Thompson was a delight to work with and will be missed. - Stephany Compton
Eugenia Welch
Gena was not only a work colleague but an amazing friend and sister in spirit. I miss her laughter and her "realness". Gena had a sixth sense and if she had not heard from me for a couple of days, she would ping me on zoom and would say "just checking in cause I miss your face". All was better after one of our chats and needing to vent. Our job could be challenging on many days; but we made a great team along with our other sister "Katie Martin". I still smile when I think of her saying "Gurl...did you hear..." No one could or ever will replace her special place in my heart. Miss you GURL! - Angel Ahlbrandt
