Student Government Association Members 2022

What is SGA?

The Student Government Association (SGA) at Texas Woman's University represents the collective voice of the student body through advocacy, legislation, and programming. The SGA works to collect student feedback on ideas and initiatives, work with TWU administrators to advocate on behalf of the collective student community, and support student programs on campus designed to enrich the student experience.

The SGA is made up of three branches including the Executive Branch (General Assembly and First-Year Leaders on Campus), Legislative Branch (Student Senate), and Judicial Branch (Supreme Court and Elections Commission).

Our Purpose

The purpose of Texas Woman's University Student Government Association is to inform, advocate, and change. The SGA will strive to be the bridge between the students and the faculty, staff, and administration by being the voice of the student body, allowing communication, trust, and change to guide us in creating a better Texas Women’s University.

Our Mission

The mission of the SGA is to empower students by promoting leadership, collaboration, and active participation in the school community. The Student Government Association serves as the official representative body for students, providing a platform for their voices, ideas, and concerns. It fosters a sense of community, promotes student engagement and advocates for student rights and needs within the institution. We aim to enhance the educational experience, facilitate open communication between students and administration and create an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and valued.

Our Goals

Advocacy: Represent student interests and concerns to the administration and faculty.

Engagement: Organize events and initiatives that encourage student participation and build community spirit.

Communication: Enhance transparency and open dialogue between students and decision-makers within the institution.

Leadership Development: Provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills through training, workshops, and involvement in SGA activities.

Inclusivity: Promote diversity and ensure that all students feel represented and included in SGA activities and decisions.

By pursuing these goals, the SGA aims to create a vibrant, supportive and engaged student body.
