COPE Dean names Hoffman SLIS Director

Gretchen Hoffman, PhD, is the new director of the School of Library and Information Studies as of August 2023. Her first day on the job, Hoffman shared the following welcome message with the SLIS community: 

"It is my absolute pleasure to be the new Director of the School of Library and Information Studies. SLIS has been my home since 2007, and I have taught and advised many students over the years. SLIS has excellent students, alumni, staff, and faculty. The SLIS community is incredibly supportive, strong, and resilient. Everyone belongs here, and I look forward to serving the SLIS community in my new role.   

I especially want to build on the foundation set by Dr. Ling Hwey Jeng, who led SLIS for almost 20 years. I thank Dr. Jeng for her dedicated service as SLIS Director and for her continued service as SLIS faculty. Under Dr. Jeng’s leadership, SLIS has grown and evolved into the thriving school it is today, and it is my goal to carry the torch forward and further build on SLIS’s many successes."
