May 5, 2025 — DALLAS — Roughly 185 attendees, nearly 10% more than in 2023, took part in this year’s 2025 Doswell Health Informatics Conference on artificial intelligence in healthcare, hosted by the College of Nursing.
The conference was held at TWU Dallas on Friday, April 25.
“The conference was a huge success,” said Mikyoung Lee, PhD, RN, Doswell Endowed Chair for Informatics and Healthcare Transformation. “We were happy to showcase groundbreaking work from across the U.S. and internationally.”
This year’s theme was AI in Healthcare: Bridging Innovation, Practice, and Education.
Judy Murphy, DN(hon), RN, FACMI, LFHIMSS, FAAN, a nationally recognized leader in health information technology, was this year’s keynote speaker. She spoke on the complexities of integrating AI into healthcare, emphasizing the importance of aligning strategy and culture while addressing issues across the healthcare spectrum.

Additionally, there were 32 podium and 16 poster presentations throughout the conference selected through a rigorous peer-review process of a record number of abstract submissions. For the collection of projects, see the 2025 Doswell Health Informatics Conference Proceedings.
"The conference provided a fantastic platform to share ideas, connect with professionals across disciplines, and learn from the thought-provoking presentations and discussions," said, Soumya Jayaraj, a biomedical informaticist from Houston.
The conference, made possible by support of the Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell Foundation, is an opportunity for participants to engage with thought leaders, attend dynamic sessions and explore emerging trends and technologies shaping the future of healthcare. It has been held every other year since 2017, and Lee hopes to continue building on the tradition.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the planning committee and all TWU faculty, staff, and student volunteers for their dedication, collaboration, and vision that made this event possible,” said Lee. “I am also grateful for the overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees. We look forward to continuing to foster collaboration that drives innovation in healthcare.”
