Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith was driven to write Until the Flood in response to Michael Brown’s tragic death at the hands of the police. Having interviewed scores of St. Louis and Ferguson, MO. residents, Orlandersmith crafted characters based directly on the many voices found within the community. Taken together, we are presented with a tapestry of perspectives on our nation’s current state of race, community and policing.
The cast of Until the Flood features undergraduate students Tam’Ra Bowles, Markia Graves and Brooklyn Long along with graduate student Savannah Valdez.
The production features designs by Associate Professor Rhonda Gorman (costume), graduate student Frank Fehmel (scenic design and set dressing), Patrick Bohmier (lighting design), undergraduate student Stef Bailey (projection design), Assistant Professor Justin Ashley (technical direction), and undergraduate student Tanvi Khanduri (sound designer).
*Please note* Until the Flood is a documentary play that deals frankly with issues of race and policing in America. Please note that some characters use language that is aggressively offensive, disturbing and racist. Viewer discretion is strongly advised.
