March 22, 2021—DENTON, Texas—Texas Woman’s University has named Lawrencina Mason Oramalu as the new director of the Center for Student Leadership, effective March 22.

The Center for Student Leadership, along with the Center for Women Entrepreneurs and the Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy, comprise the university’s Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership.

In her role, Oramalu will be responsible for overseeing the student leadership programs currently managed by the Center, in addition to managing the President’s Leadership Council and the new Legacy Leaders program, which launched in fall 2020.

With more than 10 years organizing professional development programs targeting K-12 and college students, Oramalu recently served as associate dean of educational partnerships at El Centro Community College in Dallas.

“Lawrencina is the right leader to come on board as the Institute works to expand the Center for Student Leadership to be more widely inclusive of more students at TWU,” said Mary Anne Alhadeff, chief officer of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership. “We are thrilled to have someone with her background and connections on our team.”

Oramalu, author of the book “Look Up, Step Up and Soar,” also is a professional facilitator, trainer and motivational speaker. She has a Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law, a Master of Arts from University of Minnesota and a BA in Political Science and Policy Studies from Rice University.
