TWU Board of Regents approves promotions and tenure

May 23, 2019 — DALLAS — The Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents approved promotions and tenure recommendations at its quarterly meeting May 17 at the TWU T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences-Dallas Center. Regents also awarded emeritus status to retiring faculty and staff.

College of Arts and Sciences

Associate professors Vicki Baker, Ph.D. (music), Jordan Fuchs, MFA (dance) and Manal Omary, Ph.D. (chemistry and biochemistry), were promoted to professors.

Christina Bejarano, Ph.D., incoming chair of the department of multicultural women’s and gender studies, was granted tenure at the rank of professor.

Assistant professors who were promoted to associate professors and granted tenure were:

  • Matthew Brown, Ph.D. (English, speech and foreign languages)
  • Dundee Lackey, Ph.D. (English, speech and foreign languages)
  • Brandi Falley, Ph.D. (mathematics and computer science)
  • David Gardner, Ph.D. (mathematics and computer science)
  • Tina Gumienny, Ph.D.(biology)
  • Matthew Henley, Ph.D. (dance)
  • Parker Hevron, Ph.D. (history and political science)
  • Nasrin Mirsaleh-Kohan (chemistry and biochemistry)
  • Claudia Pyland, Ph.D. (psychology and philosophy)
  • John Terrizzi, Ph.D. (psychology and philosophy)
  • Danielle Woolery DMA (music), and
  • Michael Zanders, Ph.D. (music).

 

College of Business

Associate professor Kerry Webb, Ph.D. (management), was promoted to professor.

Assistant professors promoted to associate professors and granted tenure were:

  • Maria Barua, Ph.D. (international business)
  • Christopher Harris, Ph.D. (management), and
  • Jeffrey Radighieri, Ph.D. (marketing).

 

College of Health Sciences

Associate professor Shanil Juma, Ph.D. (nutrition and food sciences), was promoted to professor. Associate clinical professor Lizbeth Spoonts, M.S. (dental hygiene), was promoted to clinical professor.

Assistant professors promoted to associate professors and granted tenure were:

  • Wayne Brewer, Ph.D. (physical therapy, Houston)
  • Rhett Rigby, Ph.D. (kinesiology), and
  • Asha Vas, Ph.D. (occupational therapy, Dallas).

 

College of Nursing

Associate professors Catherine Bailey, Ph.D. (Dallas), and Robin Toms, Ph.D. (Houston), were promoted to professors. Houston associate professors who were promoted to professor and granted tenure were:

  • Paula Clutter, Ph.D.
  • Joan Edwards, Ph.D., and
  • Susan Mellott, Ph.D.

Associate clinical professors Vi Ho, Ph.D. (Houston), and Jennifer Wilson, DNP (Dallas), were promoted to clinical professors. Associate professor Mikyoung Lee, Ph.D., was granted tenure. Assistant professor Becky Spencer, Ph.D., was promoted to associate professor and granted tenure.

Assistant clinical professors promoted to associate clinical professors were:

  • Jennifer Milligan, M.S. (Dallas),
  • Suzanne Scheller, M.S. (Houston), and
  • Michele Trinka, M.S.N. (Dallas).

 

College of Professional Education

Associate professors promoted to professors were:

  • Nerissa Gillum, Ph.D. (family sciences)
  • Elizabeth McCarroll, Ph,D. (family sciences)
  • Lin Moore, Ph.D. (family sciences), and
  • Diane Myers, Ph.D. (teacher education).

Assistant professors Amy Burke, Ph.D. (reading), and Minkowan Goo, Ph.D. (teacher education), were promoted to associate professors and granted tenure.
