Terry Scholars program at TWU continues to grow

Terry Foundation Scholarships

Apr. 19, 2018 - DENTON - Texas Woman’s University will welcome 14 new students to the Terry Scholars program this fall. The scholarship program, sponsored by the Terry Foundation, provides funding for outstanding students to attend one of 13 public universities in Texas, including TWU.

Currently, there are 93 Terry Scholars at Texas Woman’s, including 22 who will graduate or complete their terms of funding by fall 2018. Students say the program helps them gain confidence and provides a greater sense of purpose.

TWU Student Regent Rachel Iacobucci is a 2014 Traditional Terry Scholar.

“The Terry Foundation has been a huge blessing and catalyst in my college career,” said Iacobucci. “Because of it, I came to college with a built-in family of people who were truly trying to support me and help me succeed.”

The university has had a partnership with the Terry Foundation since 2013, and this coming year, the 14 new scholars will receive a total of $253,800. The scholarship covers up to the full cost of attendance for four years.

“We are very proud of our affiliation with the Terry Foundation,” said Elizabeth Durham, director of scholar programs at TWU. “This scholarship allows students the opportunity to focus on academics and enrich their college experience by becoming actively involved in student organizations and campus life.”

The Terry Foundation selects students based on academic achievement, leadership and financial aid. The 2018 TWU Terry Foundation scholarship recipients include:
