Four TWU faculty members collaborate on presentation poster

November 4, 2022 — DENTON —Four Texas Woman’s University faculty members from three different healthcare disciplines collaborated on a presentation poster at the 17th Annual Physical Therapy Education Leadership Conference in Milwaukee, Wis.

Stacy Flynn, PT, DPT; Wayne Brewer, PhD, PT and Alicia Lohmann, OTD of the College of Health Sciences along with Rebecca Aulbach, PhD, RN of the College of Nursing presented their poster and study at the conference on Oct. 28-30 with this year’s theme Pursuing Excellence and Innovation in Physical Therapy Education.

The study, “The Effectiveness of Interprofessional Education Self-Efficacy Among Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Nursing Students” examined the effectiveness of interprofessional education (IPE) in a simulated academic clinic setting. The purpose of the study was to determine if there was a change in behavior for PT, OT and nursing students who participated in a simulated hospital IPE experience that utilized live actors. 

ELC 2022 is a collaborative effort of the APTA Academy of Education (the Academy) and the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) designed to excite, educate, invigorate, and facilitate discussion among all stakeholders in physical therapy education.
