Sample Statements for Second Year Faculty Self-Assessment

The statements provided are suggestions and are intended to serve as a guide to help in crafting your self-assessment. Please feel free to adapt the content and expand on the statements to better reflect your individual experiences, accomplishments and goals during your second year as a faculty member. A few things to keep in mind:

OPENING STATEMENT

I began my faculty appointment at TWU in [Month, Year]. My first year of faculty service at TWU was both productive and rewarding. I have actively participated in various orientation activities and engaged in multiple teaching, research, and service opportunities. The following self-assessment will discuss my performance during the [academic year] in alignment with the criteria for promotion and tenure in the department/division/school of __________.

TEACHING

My first year course load consists of the courses listed on the attached workload report. As you can see, I taught XX courses. XX were undergraduate and XX were graduate; XX were face-to-face and XX were online/hybrid/flex models.

SUMMARY

 My transition into the School/Department of _____ over the past year has been both productive and rewarding. I believe my contributions reflect continued growth and demonstrate my progress as a second-year faculty member, working steadily toward my eventual application for promotion and tenure.

Since the beginning of this academic year, I have concentrated my efforts on _____ (e.g., refining my teaching methodologies, advancing key research projects, enhancing student engagement, or contributing to departmental initiatives).
