What is the Pioneer Readiness Officer program?
The Pioneer Readiness Officer Program is a restructure and reintroduction of the Additional Safety Duty Officer Program. This program aims to aid the Risk Management Department in efforts to ensure student, faculty, and staff safety on TWU’s campuses. TWU has the potential to be affected by a wide range of hazards which may include severe weather, active assailants, fire, and medical emergencies. This program was created to establish trained personnel that can help Risk Management prepare departments and respond to hazards.
Pioneer Readiness Officer Responsibilities
Pioneer Readiness Officers (PROs) are TWU employees who have received training to assist their fellow building occupants during hazards and to coordinate with Risk Management to mitigate risks observed on campus. It is important to note that a Pioneer Readiness Officer is not expected to put themselves in harm’s way; Pioneer Readiness Officers are more of a reference/guide for those in their buildings when panic arises.
If you are not sure who your PRO is, please contact your supervisor or risk@twu.edu.
