Myers Stroke Center recognized for excellence
June 17, 2026 ― DENTON ― The Texas Woman’s Mike A. Myers Stroke Center has been recognized for excellence by the Dallas Historical Society for its outstanding contributions to the local community.
The Myers Center was one of 10 recipients selected in June for the society’s annual Awards for Excellence, which will be presented during the Dallas History Makers Luncheon on Nov. 19 at the Fairmont Dallas. The center was recognized in the health/science organization category.
“We are honored to be recognized as a Dallas History Makers award recipient in health sciences,” said Jyutika Mehta, director of the Myers Center. “This award reflects the extraordinary dedication of our faculty and staff, the hard work of our students, and the unwavering support of TWU's leadership and community partners. We are proud to contribute to a legacy of innovation and service that is improving lives across Dallas and beyond.”
The society honored the Myers Center “for its commitment to improving the lives of stroke and traumatic brain injury patients through pro bono speech therapy services.”
The awards, established in 1981, recognize individuals and organizations in the Dallas community for quality-of-life contributions in the areas of arts leadership, business, creative arts, education, health/science, humanities/history, philanthropy, sports leadership and volunteer community leadership.
The Myers Center was established in 1992 by Texas Woman’s University to provide specialized treatment for patients who experience a stroke or head injury. The center, which also conducts research and training for TWU graduate students, does not charge patients and is funded primarily through grants and contributions.
