Rahmatu Kassimu
Dr. Rahmatu Kassimu, widely known as Dr. K., is a public health educator, researcher, consultant, and nationally recognized speaker whose work centers health equity, Black maternal health, mental well-being, and culturally responsive education. She holds a Ph.D. in Health Studies, a Master of Public Health, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, and advanced training in organizational leadership.
Dr. K. is the founder of Dr. K.’s Health Minute, LLC, where she translates research into accessible education, advocacy tools, professional development, and community-centered solutions. She also serves as a university faculty member and dissertation coach, supporting emerging scholars through strategy, mentorship, implementation, and academic editing.
Her scholarship and lived experience inform her commitment to creating systems in which Black women, families, students, and communities are heard, believed, and equipped to advocate for themselves. She is the co-editor of Navigating Black Maternal Mental Health and Well-Being and the creator of the H.E.L.D. Protective Ecosystem Framework. Through speaking, teaching, and consulting, Dr. K. challenges audiences to move beyond awareness and design conditions where people can experience safety, dignity, agency, connection, and joy.
