Natasha Cruz-Sánchez
Natasha Cruz-Sánchez, BSN, CDL-A, is a bilingual Puerto Rican nurse, professional commercial truck driver, and transportation advocate committed to improving safety, opportunity, and representation within the transportation industry.
Natasha earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ana G. Méndez University, Gurabo Campus in Puerto Rico before pursuing a career in commercial trucking, gaining firsthand experience navigating United States highways and witnessing the challenges facing professional drivers and the nation’s supply chain.
Driven by those experiences, Natasha has become a national voice for trucking safety and policy reform. She is the creator of the Safe Communication Act, a proposal advocating for a standardized English Language Proficiency (ELP) Endorsement for commercial drivers to improve roadway safety while ensuring fair, objective, and consistent enforcement. Her advocacy has been featured by leading transportation media outlets, including Land Line Magazine, Overdrive, Truck Driver News, Newsmax, and FOX Noticias, contributing to the national conversation surrounding commercial driver safety legislation.
Natasha was selected to participate in The University of Texas at Austin’s LBJ Women’s Campaign School, where she is strengthening her leadership, civic engagement, and public policy skills. She is passionate about advocating for working families, promoting highway safety, and advancing policies that strengthen the transportation industry while expanding opportunities for underrepresented voices in leadership.
Whether speaking about transportation policy, leadership, workforce development, or public service, Natasha brings a unique perspective shaped by her experiences as both a healthcare professional and a commercial truck driver. She is passionate about inspiring more women—especially Latinas—to pursue careers in blue-collar industries and leadership roles, demonstrating
that there is a place for them in fields where they have historically been underrepresented. Her mission is to build safer roads, strengthen the transportation industry, and help shape policies that better serve the people who keep America moving.
