Nov. 30, 2020 - HOUSTON - Patrick Palmieri, DHSc, DPhil(Hon.), EdS, PGDip(Oxon) teamed with Joan Edwards, PhD, RNC, CNS, FAAN and Juan Leyva-Moral, PhD, MSN, RN to publish research on HIV-related attitudes of nursing faculty in three continents from six countries: Canada, Colombia, England, Peru, Spain, and the United States.

All three principal investigators are part of the TWU Center for Global Nursing while Edwards is an integral part of the TWU College of Nursing faculty. TWU faculty member, Sandra Cesario, PhD, RNC, FAAN contributed as well.

The team published their research in an article, Attitudes Toward Caring for People Living with HIV/AIDS: A Cross-Sectional Study of Nursing Faculty in Six Countries, in The Open AIDS Journal.

This study is unique because it focuses on nursing faculty at schools of nursing whereas prior research largely focused on nursing students.

Edwards told the Bentham Science Publishers, "This research was part of an international collaboration to advance positive social change in South America through nursing research."
