Become an SI Leader

SI Leaders are upper-class undergraduate students who have previously taken and passed the course with a B grade or better. They are familiar with the faculty, course content, and the specific challenges you may face throughout the semester. Eager to support your academic success, these leaders are skilled in active listening, clear communication and facilitation, time management, and effective group and individual study strategies and techniques.

SI leaders will: 

  • Attend all current lectures with students to stay up-to-date with course progression
  • Help students think critically about course content and use appropriate study strategies
  • Maintain regular communication with professors for additional insights
  • Connect students with other campus resources that can provide support tailored to your needs

SI Leader I

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the entire semester hired as an SI
  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status (Second-semester Freshmen may be considered)
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Earned an a B or higher in course(s) applying for
  • Ability to work 10 hours per week
  • Attend all trainings, staff meetings, and meetings with SI Coordinator and assigned faculty
  • Attend all lectures, take notes, complete assignments
  • Plan and facilitate three 50-minute study sessions every week

SI Leader II

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a full-time graduate student for the entire semester hired as an SI
  • Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Earned an a B or higher in course(s) applying for
  • Ability to work 10 hours per week
  • Attend all trainings, staff meetings, and meetings with SI Coordinator and assigned faculty
  • Attend all lectures, take notes, complete assignments
  • Plan and facilitate three 50-minute study sessions every week
  • Assist in training and supporting other SI Leaders

Benefits

  • Earn a pay rate of $19.00 per hour
