It’s never too early or too late to attend a FREE Supplemental Instruction (SI) session in the Pioneer Center for Student Excellence.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) offers free, peer-led study sessions for all students enrolled in core and gateway courses at TWU. In these engaging, 50-minute sessions, you’ll collaborate with other students under the guidance of trained SI Leaders—current TWU students who have successfully completed the course. Through interactive activities and games, you’ll deepen your understanding of course material, reinforce key concepts, and develop effective study strategies to help you succeed on exams!
Where are we?
SI sessions are held in the Pioneer Center for Student Excellence, 2nd floor of the Blagg-Huey Library on the Denton campus.
SI is currently offered for the following courses:
• ZOOL 2013 • ZOOL 2023 • BACT 1003
How SI works
Supplemental Instruction Leaders host review sessions for the course they have selected. SI Leaders attend the professor’s lectures each week, take notes on the material covered, and coordinate with the professor regarding the content covered in review sessions. In the SI review session, students have the opportunity to engage with course content delivered from a peer-to-peer perspective while also making connections with peers and their SI Leader in either an in-person or online format. In addition to course content, SI Leaders also provide students with study skills and strategies that they can use to help them remember, understand, and apply the information that they encounter in class.
Note: SI sessions are not a substitute for regular class attendance or a last-minute cram session before exams. SI Leaders don’t re-teach course material or discuss individual grades. Instead, they focus on promoting collaborative learning and supporting your long-term success.
