TWU Housing offers free drop-in child care for students

Sept. 4, 2019 — DENTON — Texas Woman’s University has announced a new drop-in child care service for students starting in September from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Clubhouse in Lowry Woods.

Trained staff will be on hand to care for children ages 5-12 while TWU students attend classes, work on group projects or run errands. Space is limited to 25 children each evening.

“At TWU, we truly believe that we’re a catalyst for social mobility for everyone in our community,” said Monica Mendez-Grant Ed.D., TWU vice president for student life. “We take a lot of pride in that purpose, so we’re working to meet students where they’re at, including drop-in child care service.”

A $25 application fee is required each semester but services are free. Care is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and reservations are recommended, preferably by 4 p.m. the day prior to service. Availability for space can be confirmed by calling the Clubhouse at 940-898-3653.

All students interested in drop-in child care must complete The Clubhouse enrollment packet prior to using the service.
