TWU cancels Boo at the U due to COVID-19
September 29, 2020 — Denton — Like many things in 2020, TWU’s traditional Boo at the U celebration has been canceled this year. The well-attended TWU and Denton community event will be replaced by Pioneer Fright Week, featuring a series of events scattered throughout the week for students, employees and alumni.
According to David Sweeten, director of the Student Union, the decision to cancel Boo at the U was a difficult one. “It’s one of the great event traditions here at TWU, and it always draws a large crowd. However, due to the high number of volunteers required to run the event, we felt the best option this year was to provide alternative types of programs.”
In keeping with social distancing guidelines, Pioneer Fright Week events will encourage safe interactions for TWU students. The events will not be open to the greater Denton community this year. Events during the week leading up to Halloween will include the following:
