Is optional tuition insurance right for you?
August 12, 2022 — Denton — TWU is now offering optional tuition insurance through GradGuard. This optional coverage strengthens TWU’s existing refund policy by ensuring reimbursement for tuition, housing and other payments if a student withdraws for any covered medical reason at any time during the semester.
This insurance is similar to travel insurance that is offered for airline tickets, trips, cruises, etc. A student that elects this coverage will pay GradGuard directly for $10,000 of coverage at the beginning of the semester for a cost of $110. The university will not have access to payments or the policies, and this option will be visible to students in the online payment portal until the first day of class.
Tuition insurance protects the investment students have made in higher education if they need to withdraw mid-semester for a covered illness, injury, or mental health condition. It complements TWU’s refund policy.
According to Glen Ray, director of student accounts and bursar, the company was selected based on its reputation and its ability to provide this option within TWU’s current payment system.
“After the pandemic occurred, I felt this fall was the time to make this an option for those wanting to protect their educational dollars for unforeseen things happening,” said Ray.
Tuition insurance can insure up to 100% reimbursement for tuition payments, housing, and other fees if students withdraw for a covered reason at any time during the semester. To get a quote or learn more about tuition insurance, call 1.877.794-6603 or visit GradGuard.
Students wanting to select this tuition insurance will do it through the online payment system where tuition payments are made. The deadline to enroll is the day before classes begin each semester.
