Symposium Sigma Xi Review

The Student Symposium is pleased to collaborate with the TWU Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society to provide student presenters with an opportunity to have work evaluated. This evaluation was most appropriate for projects that utilize the scientific method to rigorously test one or more hypotheses. Points of critique included clearly stated hypothesis and objectives, appropriately used methodology and controls, proper data analysis (quantitative or qualitative), effective data presentation, and communication skills.

The mission of the TWU Chapter is to honor excellence in scientific investigation, encourage a sense of companionship and cooperation among researchers in all fields of science, enhance the health of the research enterprise at TWU, and promote the public's understanding of science. Sigma Xi membership benefits include:

  • expanding your local and global network of scientists
  • providing funding opportunities for your research and chapter programs
  • providing you leadership and professional development opportunities, and
  • an annual subscription to the journal American Scientist.
