Definition: Project Type

The Project Type indicates the intended use of the funds and is used for a variety of purposes when reporting. The main classification of projects that are routed through ORSP include basic research, applied research, instruction, scholarship / fellowship, and service.

  • Research Projects are directed toward 1) increasing knowledge in science, 2) designing, developing, or testing of specific items or processes, or 3) determining the potential of discoveries in technology, materials, processes, methods, devices or techniques.
  • Service Projects involve the performance of work other than instruction/training or research, i.e. health and community service projects.
  • Scholarship / Fellowship grants typically provide funding for scholarship or fellowships to TWU students.
  • Training/Instruction Project incorporate teaching or student training as a main objective.
