Seasoned scholar tapped to lead faculty development center

April 24, 2025 ― DENTON ― Texas Woman’s has chosen Nancy Chick, an experienced educator with a strong background in developing college faculty, as the leader of the university’s Center for Faculty Success

Chick begins July 1 as the center’s executive director.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Nancy Chick, an internationally recognized scholar in teaching and learning, as the new executive director of the Center for Faculty Success,” said Angela Bauer, TWU’s provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “Dr. Chick will be both a resource and an inspiration to our faculty, helping them explore innovative approaches to teaching while at the same time advancing their own scholarly work.”

TWU’s Center for Faculty Success supports faculty at all career stages by providing comprehensive professional development programs, support services and essential resources. By promoting faculty achievements as educators, scholars, mentors and leaders, the center contributes to the university's mission and improves student outcomes.

A teaching and learning scholar, Chick has held positions in faculty development for nearly two decades at Vanderbilt University, University of Calgary, Rollins College and in the University of Wisconsin System. 

Additionally, she has an extensive background in editing, having served as founding co-editor of Teaching & Learning Inquiry, the journal of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She also has served as editor or co-editor of several other publications related to the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Chick earned a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of New Mexico, and a master’s degree and a PhD, both in English, from the University of Georgia.
