U.S. News again ranks TWU among nation’s best for social mobility

Sept. 26, 2024 ― DENTON ― U.S. News & World Report has again recognized Texas Woman’s among the nation’s best for social mobility, and included TWU on the publication’s “Best National University” and “Top Public Schools” lists.

Additionally, U.S. News recognized Texas Woman’s bachelor of nursing program as tied for the state’s third best (and 54th nationally), while also listing the university’s business and psychology programs on the index of top national programs.

The publication also ranked Texas Woman’s sixth ― and tied for first in Texas among public universities ― for ethnic diversity, continuing TWU’s years-long run of being ranked in the top ten nationally in that category.

The rankings were made public this week in the U.S. News’ 2025 “Best Colleges” guide, which reviewed more than 1,800 four-year U.S. colleges and universities for inclusion in the annual rankings edition. It marked the second straight year TWU was selected within the top 20% of institutions that made the national ranking index.

In the social mobility category, U.S. News listed Texas Woman’s in the top 18% of institutions that were ranked. Among the 34 Texas universities named to the list, Texas Woman’s was 11th in this category.

The social mobility ranking considers an institution’s ability to enroll and graduate large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded Pell Grants as well as the graduation rates of first-generation students.

Earlier this month, Texas Woman’s was named among the nation’s best colleges in lists prepared by the Wall Street Journal and Forbes, two national publications that focus on financial news.
