TWU Theatre presents 'Hot n' Cole: A Cole Porter Celebration!'
April 01, 2021 ā DENTON ā The Texas Woman's University Department of Music and Theatre presents "Hot nā Cole: A Cole Porter Celebration!" April 22-25. You are invited to listen to the timeless classics of Cole Porter during an unforgettable evening under the stars. All performances will take place outdoors on the Margo Jones Performance Hall steps.
Performance times are:
- 8 p.m., Thursday, April 22;
- 8 p.m., Friday, April 23;
- 8 p.m., Saturday, April 24; and
- 2 p.m., Sunday, April 25.
Tickets are $5 for everyone, masks are required for all patrons and social distancing protocols will be observed. Tickets can only be reserved online due to COVID-19 safety protocols. Written by Cole Porter, David Armstrong, Mark Waldrop and Bruce Coyle; directed by TWU Theatre Program Director Patrick Bynane, Ph.D.; and with musical direction from Melissa Hall, you will get a kick out of this show. Cole Porter's timeless classics will be under in the spotlight, presented with fresh arrangements and a contemporary twist. Over fifty of his songs will be woven into a postmodern event that feels as much like a book musical as a revue. By turns wry, irreverent, romantic, touching and hilarious, this promises to be a evening unlike any other.
The cast of "Hot nā Cole" features TWU students Kaylon Browning, Camden Riefler, Tyler Voyles, Emily Perry, William Clark, Kendra Flusche, Haleigh Beck and Regan Ellis.
This production will feature designs from Assistant Professor Russell McKinley (technical logistics and sound design), Associate Professor Rhonda Gorman (costumes), and TWU graduate student Derek Salazar (assistant lighting designer).
