March 4, 2020 — DENTON — Chancellor Carine M. Feyten today named Carolyn Kapinus the new executive vice president for academic affairs and provost of Texas Woman’s University.

Kapinus’ appointment to the position came following a national search for the position. She had been serving Texas Woman’s as interim provost since May 2019.

“Carolyn understands the demands on the faculty within the evolving higher education landscape and how to strategically develop an environment where faculty members can thrive,” Feyten said.

Feyten credited Kapinus with playing an integral role in developing two key university initiatives — aimed at bringing in more innovative academic programs and increasing research opportunities — and for helping launch a third tied to bolstering the number of health care professionals.

As dean of TWU’s Graduate School, Kapinus collaborated closely with colleagues across all colleges and divisions and led a student recruitment strategy that resulted in an unprecedented increase in new graduate student applications.

Kapinus came to Texas Woman’s in 2017 from Ball State University to head the university’s Graduate School. At Ball State, Kapinus held the posts of graduate school dean, graduate school assistant dean, and several faculty posts.
